Oberammergau
MunichToday, the day is primarily dedicated to the world-famous Passion Play, the centerpiece of our pilgrimage trip. In 1633 the Oberammergau villagers promised to perform the suffering, death, and resurrection of Christ every tenth year, if no one was to die of the plague anymore, which raged in many parts of Europe. The villagers were answered by God and therefore in 1634 the first Passion Play took place. The promise has been kept ever since.

Czestochowa - Wadowice
MunichWe make our way to the shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa. We will have mass at Jasna Gora Monastery where the picture of the Black Madonna is located. The monastery has a pilgrimage tradition that goes back to the 14th-century. St. Pope John Paul II was known to make frequent visits to the monastery throughout his life. We continue en route to Zakopane, with a stop along the way in Wadowice, the birthplace of Karol Wojtyla (St. Pope John Paul II) and tour the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help he attended and was baptized as a child.
Zakopane - Wieliczka
MunichIn the village of Zakopane, we will take a cable car ride to the nearby mountaintop for an extraordinary view of the countryside. We will visit the Jaszczorowka Chapel in Zakopane which had been visited several times by young Karol Wojtyla (St. Pope John Paul II), as it lies on the walking paths where he often finished his walks for prayer and reflection. We then make our way to colorful Krupowki Street for some last minute shopping in its local bazaar. In the afternoon, we will also stop at the amazing Wieliczka Salt Mines, the oldest salt mine in Europe. Now a UNESCO site, it serves as a museum and contains an impressive display of galleries and salt works.
Krakow - Auschwitz - Krakow
MunichAfter breakfast, we explore Krakow's Market Square and hear the silver trumpet of the bugler from St. Mary's Tower. The surroundings of the square have remained unchanged for almost 700 years and contain buildings of historic value such as the Town Hall Tower, the Cloth Hall and the burgher's houses. We will tour the Cathedral, Coronation Chapel and the Royal Chambers where a superb collection of Arras tapestries are on display. We visit the Cathedral and pray before the extraordinary Wit Stwosz altar. In the afternoon, we will visit Auschwitz, the notorious Nazi concentration camp where unspeakable atrocities occurred. Krakow – Divine Mercy – Lagiewniki - Krakow
